The Comfort Coat reaches down to your shoulder blades or wraps around the wheelchair backrest. No need to lean forward and tuck it behind your back, uncomfortably changing your position. The wheelchair backrest already keeps your back protected and warm. Mark Felling, Broadened Horizons President, and the Comfort Coat's designer, has been using the prototype from early fall to late spring through Minnesota's blustery winters since 2005, and it still looks new. Mark's mother, a skilled seamstress, sewed the original prototype - Thanks, Mom! Quality is in the details - designed by the disabled for the disabled with the detailed, loving touch only a mother can add!
CLEARANCE ITEM - Our customers who have purchased these over the years absolutely love them! Unfortunately our customers don't usually think of us for clothing. And these are expensive relative to a jacket you might buy that was produced at much lower cost such as Vietnam commonly. The two layers are more than four yards of the highest quality Polartech microfiber fleece, just in the materials is expensive. They were produced by professional seamstress here in the United States. So these are a premium product and we just haven't sold enough volume to justify the inventory carrying costs. We can always produce more, or more likely a batch of 10 to 20 for any dealer or organization or anyone who would want to market these who's better at marketing clothing and fashion.
These last more than 10 years - there's never been a technical or quality issue. As a clearance item these are discounted and available only for exchange. If you find you would prefer the larger or smaller size or different color we would be happy to exchange from what's available.
